Borrowed Tenderness is a reconstructed military jacket created as a hybrid of two original garments: a U.S. Army uniform jacket and a camouflage denim jacket by Cult of Individuality. The two pieces were carefully combined by hand and transformed into a single wearable object where military structure meets a more personal and artistic layer.
 
Across the surface, the strict language of uniform is interrupted by private signs: a framed photograph, hand-drawn portraits, handwritten text, insignia, decorative stitching and reconstructed pockets. These details shift the object away from the idea of uniform and toward something more fragile and human. What once belonged to discipline now carries memory. What once served order now holds traces of tenderness and personal presence.
 
The contrast is essential to the piece. The military cut, insignia and structure remain visible, yet they are softened by intimate and almost secret fragments. The object no longer speaks about function. It speaks about what remains inside fabric: memory, touch, loss, tenderness and the second life of materials.
No stencils.
No duplication.
The composition evolves directly on the garment, guided by texture, wear, and structure.
