Ghost of the Coast is a hand-painted reconstructed denim artifact formed at Fly Art Atelier in California.
The foundation of the piece is formed from vintage workwear, incorporating French moleskin pants by Marithé + François Girbaud and Wrangler denim as source garments. These elements are deconstructed and rebuilt into a new structure, where each fragment carries its own history.
The composition is built through layered denim fragments, raw seams, distressed surfaces, and textile inserts that give the garment the feeling of something weathered by time and tide. A portrait image appears within the structure like a surviving trace, while patchwork elements reshape the silhouette into something between clothing and relic.
The surface carries the language of erosion, memory, and reconstruction. Faded tones, exposed edges, and uneven textures create a composition that feels discovered rather than made.
The garment is developed and assembled within the Fly Art Atelier practice.
No stencils.
No duplication.
The composition evolves directly on the garment, guided by texture, wear, and structure.
This is not customization.
This is transformation.
One-of-a-kind piece.
Created at Fly Art Atelier.
